


Student Conference “The EU and the Challenge of a Changing World: Navigating Geopolitical Shifts, Strategic Autonomy, and Global Responsibilities”

On May 29, 2025, conference hall G 106 at Ilia State University will host a student scientific conference and a poster competition titled “The EU and the Challenge of a Changing World Navigating Geopolitical Shifts, Strategic Autonomy, and Global Responsibilities.” The event is organized by the European Union-supported project “Jean Monnet Chair at Iliauni” and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
The conference and poster competition welcome participation from students enrolled in bachelor's and master's programs in Political Sciences, International Relations and EU Studies of Iliauni and other State universities of Georgia
The conference will feature to the following thematics:
- EU as a global actor in a Multipolar World
- Challenges and opportunities to EU’s strategic autonomy in foreign and security affairs
- War and Peace: The EU’s Response to the War in Ukraine
- EU and Transatlantic relations
- The EU's Response to Global Security Threats: From Terrorism to Cybersecurity
- EU-China relations: Cooperation or Competition?
- Normative Power EU: The role of the EU in promoting democracy, human rights, and the rule of law
- The EU as a global climate actor in a competitive environment
- The EU’s Enlargement Policy: Shaping Europe’s Neighborhood and Global Influence
- EU and The South Caucasus: Between Integration and Isolation
- EU-Georgia relations
- Resilience, Institutions, and Democratic Integrity in EU
The authors of the selected proposals and posters will be awarded Ligamus vouchers. The selected proposals will also be published electronically. All students who take part in the conference and poster competition will receive a certificate of participation.
Important Information:
To participate in the conference and poster competition, please submit a summary of your intended conference topic and/or a photo of the poster. You have the option to present either the proposal or the poster.
Documents to be Submitted:
- Full paper (approximately 800–1000 words)
- Relevant original visual material (photo, drawing) on the theme of the conference in the case of a poster.
Proposal and/or photo material for the poster should be uploaded by May 12, 2025, to the following link.

The conference organizing committee will review the submitted conference proposals and posters. The selected candidates will be notified of their participation confirmation on May 23rd .
